Answer 1 :
It's 2,756 miles. If you only drive seven hours a day, and average 70 MPH, it'll take six days. You'd have to average closer to 80 MPH to get it down to five days, which is pretty hard to do on a long trip like this one. If six days sounds like a lot, consider driving more than seven hours per day. Bumping it up to 10 will drop the trip to four days.
Answer 2 :
You will need six days: Day 1: Greensboro NC to Nashville TN using I-40 (7:23 hours) Day 2: Nashville TN to Fort Smith AR using I-40 (7:29 hours) Day 3: Fort Smith AR to Amarillo TX using I-40 (6:38 hours) Day 4: Amarillo TX to Holbrook AZ using I-40 (7:16 hours) Day 5: Holbrook AZ to Boron CA using I-40 then turning on Route 58 at Lenwood (6:50 hours) Day 6: Boron CA to Oakland CA using Route 58, then turning on Route 99 at Bakersfield, then Route 46 at Famoso, then I-5 close to Lost Hills, then I-580 toward San Francisco, then I-238 close to Castro Valley, then I-880 close to San Lorenzo (5:35 hours)
