You only need your ID card - drivers license or something like it issued by the state.

you don't need a passport since you're not traveling internationally, but you do need some sort of government issued id with your pic on it (driver's liscence, military card, etc.)

This is a perfect chance for me to rant on our government as a True American I have to say that something is wrong when first the government of America would charge as a duty to have the Passport people collect Past child support and Two that anyone other than a Nazi or a Communist would require a passport to travel inside the USA. Mark my words hear some assh*** will try to pass this one and if you don;t see the problem with this then go back to school and take a class on it

The airline/airport needs to verify that the ticket belongs to you so you can pass through their security and board the airplane. This is normally done with your state ID but you can use your passport if you have one
